The Fir tree was originally revered as the sacred World Tree in northern Europe until replaced by Ash. It is the tree of Immortality and is one of the 9 sacred woods for the Beltane fire. Fir trees grow very tall and slender outgrowing other trees in the forest to reach the light, hence Firs ‘see’ over great distance to the far horizon, beyond and below. This magically translates to Fir being a transmitter of ones message upon the wind and also a receiver of things - Fir induces high views and long sights with clear vision of what is beyond and yet to come. It is best used for searching the gift of ‘insight’ or inspiration. Also for bringing knowledge of past and future lives into the "now". Fir symbolizes malleability, cleverness, and the ability to change. It is a good wood for magick involving physical structures, forms, and shapeshifting or other changing magicks.
