This amazing wand was hand-carved from a small branch of Elder Wood that was imported from an English Witch who sustainably harvests branches from trees in her garden in the South of Devon. While the carved vines are very lightly stained to help accentuate them, the handle is not. The outer bark is flaky and was sanded away. However, for the handle, care was taken to leave some of the inner-bark which accounts for the lovely green pattern.
Elder is considered an aspect of the White Goddess due to itís flowers that bloom to their peak in midsummer. It is a waterside tree, and a wood sacred to the Faery Folk. The inner bark and the flowers have long been famous for their therapeutic qualities which is why a portion of the inner bark was retained in the handle - to keep this healing a part of the wand. Elder indicates the end in the beginning and the beginning in the end. Life in Death and Death in Life. It is associated with Witchcraft in general; is particularly useful for banishment and protection from evil; and is also associated with magical art, the waters of life, Faerie Magic, imagination, and change.
