Below is a box carved of Ash wood used to store Ritual Tools which can also be used as a small altar. On it are carved representation of the four elements, with the top carving of Yggdrasil representing Spirit. Yggdrasil is also known as the World Ash that according to Norse mythology held all of the Nine Worlds, representing "the All".
So generally magical is the Ash that it is the wood used for Yule logs and Maypoles, and in some traditions the brooms of witches. It is a wood of balance and the marriage of opposites. It engenders Intelligence, wit, communication, knowledge and curiosity. Ash wood is as much attuned to Elemental Water as it is to Earth, and so is the consummate wood of growth and fecundity, mothers and daughters, and female sovereignty. It is well-suited for shamanic magick, for protection, to enhance one's skills at any art or craft, to the magick of wells and caves, to Earth as the vessel of water, to finding roots or working with plant roots, to the magick of horses, oceans, conquest, justice, and weatherworking.
